Who can we support?

Our Family Healthy Lifestyle Service is available for families with one or more children aged between 4 and 17 who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Live in Dudley Borough

    Your family lives within the Dudley Borough area.

  • Registered with a Dudley GP

    You or your child are registered with a GP practice in Dudley.

  • Attend a Dudley education setting

    Your child attends a school or another education setting within Dudley Borough.

The Family Healthy Lifestyle Service is a non-specialist service that uses a whole-family approach to encourage and support positive lifestyle changes. We do not weigh or measure children or parents, making this a stigma-free support option for families who wish to improve their health and wellbeing, without judgement or jargon.

Flexible family support

What we offer

Support is shaped around your family, your routine and the changes you would like to make.

  • Appointments can be face-to-face, by video call or by telephone, with evening sessions also available.
  • Meet your adviser at convenient venues such as schools, Family Hubs, Park Health Hubs and other local settings.
  • Up to 12 flexible, one-to-one appointments are available for each family.
  • Introductions and signposting to other local services, support and activities.
  • Straightforward health advice and practical support to help the whole family make beneficial and sustainable changes.

Your adviser will focus on the topics that are most useful and relevant for your family.

  • Understanding food labels and how to make healthier choices

  • Healthy snacking, food swaps and healthier lunchboxes

  • Screen time and healthy sleep routines

  • Keeping active with the family and finding exercise you enjoy

  • Reducing processed foods and increasing fruit, vegetables and wholegrains

  • Eating a balanced diet and managing portion sizes
